                                       WORLD CUP FOOTBALL
On 21May 1904,the federation  International Foot ball associan (FIFA) was founded in Paris by representatives of seven countries –Belgium,Denmark,France,Netherlands ,Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.On28 May 1928,the FIFA Congress in Amsterdam decided to stage a world championship of football and Uruguay was finally chosen as the host country in 1929.In 1970,the trophy was awarded to Brazil permanently when it became the first country to win the world cup thrice and a new trophy called the FIFA world cup was the world cup thrice and a new .Though the tournament was held alternately in Europe and the America since 1958,it broken new ground when it was held in Japan and Korea in 2002.Since 1930,only seven terms have able to win the trophy.

Summer Olympics Games

                 SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

The history of the ancient Olympics dates from 776BC, when it was celebrated in summer at four –year intervals in honour of Zeus. The games were later suppressed by Roman emperor Theodosius in about AD 393.
 In the late 19th century, the concept of the Olympics Games was revived .At the 1896 Athens Olympics Games athletes from 14nations competed, with the largest delegations coming from France, Germany and Greece.
   In 1921, the IOC decided to stage ‘International Sports Week 1924 ‘Chamonix, France. The event was so successful that it was retroactively named the first Olympics Winter Games; Athletes from 16 nations took part in the games   


OLYMPICS MOTTO, EMBLEM, FLAG CREED AND OATH





MOTTO:”Citrus, Alatius, Fortius”these are Latin words, which mean ‘           Faster; higher and stronger. ‘they were composed in 1897 by Rev father Didon,a friend of baron Pierre  de Coubertin, introduced in the 1920 games for the first time.
Emblem: Is composed of five intertwined rings, each of a different colour, representing five continents of the world, placed at the center of the Olympics Flag.
   Emblem placed in the middle is 206cm % 60cm.the flag was designed by Coubertin himself in 1913 and it was first hosted in 1920 at the Antwerp Games and the motto was then added to it.
Olympic Song: The Olympic song is ‘we can make this world abvetter world’ written by Giargio Morober.For the first time, sung at the Seoul Games in 1988.
Olympic torch: The Olympic flame symbolizes the continuity between the ancient and the modern Olympics. The Olympic flame was lighted for the first time in 1928 at the Amsterdam Stadium and since then the practice has been continued.
The torch used to kindle the flame is first lit by the sun’s rays at the shrine of Zeus(Greece).It is then carried overland by a relay of runners to the site of the games and placed in bowl where it burns during the period of the Games.   
The Olympic Torch Relay: The practice of torch Relay from Olympia(Greece)to the venue of the Games was first introduced by German Olympic Committee for the Berlin Games in 1936 and has since become part of the Olympic  games.
Medals: The medal is diameter and 3 mm in thickness. The Gold and silver medals are both made of 92.5% pure silver. However the Gold medal is plated with 6 gm of pure gold. The third position medal is made of bronze.
In addition to prizes given to athletes, ther are certain awards and trophies which are awarded to those who promote the cause of Olympics.
The Olympic order: Instituted in 1974, the Olympic Order in gold, silver, Or bronze decoration, awarded to a person who has rendered outstanding services or displayed the Olympic ideals.
Mrs. Indira Gandhi was awarded this order in 1983 by the IOC for the contribution to the organization of the New Delhi Asiad (1982).

      PRESIDENTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE
                  The International Olympic Committee is the highest authority of the Olympic Movement. The Executive Board of the Committee was founded in 1921,and presently consists of the IOC president, four Viccce-President and ten other members.
                      The IOC President is presently elected for an eight year term, renewable once for four additional years. Here is a list of all presidents of the IOC.

INDIA’SPerformans in hockey at the Olympics; Till today, hockey has been the only sport in which India
Have golod medals 8 at Olympics. The period from 1928-1956 is considered to be the golden era of India hockey as  India won 6 consecutive Olympics gold medals during that time, winning all the 24 matches it plyed.Further ,India Scored 178g goals (at an average of 7.43 goals per match. The other two gold medals were won in the 1964 Tokay Olympics and the 1980 Moscow Olympics
